My Story

Welcome to Long Pond Maple. My name is John, I am a sugarmaker who discovered my passion for sugaring during high school, I have been involved in sugaring for over 30 years. What began with just over 100 trees has grown into a thriving operation of over 1500 trees. My commitment goes beyond just producing exceptional maple products. I’m deeply invested in the longevity of the trees ensuring they thrive for generations to come, while maintaining the wildlife habitats on the 525 farm in Greensboro which borders Long Pond. I have combined new technologies to ensure the sugaring process is as efficient as possible but, maintain our time-honored tradition of boiling the sap over a wood-fired arch, enhancing the rich, distinctive flavor maple lovers enjoy. Part of our ongoing commitment to sustainability. I am in the process of obtaining organic certification and currently adhere to organic practices. I couldn’t accomplish all of this without the help of family and friends. Starting with Liz who is always willing to help in any way possible. Our four girls come to help all they can revolving around their busy schedules. My dad is always stopping by while I’m boiling to check and see if I need him to run after supplies. My favorite helper is my 3 year old granddaughter who is my top taste tester and refuses to try anyone else
